Things here in Broken Meme territory have been mighty interesting of late. Not only did we record an interview with the guys at the Podge Cast, but later today I will be signing a contract with Indie Press Revolution and popping it into the mail.
All four of the primary peeps behind Broken Meme (myself, Carolyn, Jason & Ben) were on the podcast, but I seemed to be unable to stop talking. Five dozen “ummms”, as well as a handful of other not-so-kosher words later, and you’d never have guessed that I spent five years in radio way back in the day. Check out the episode, it’s almost an hour long and a vast majority is rapping about Cipher. Listen, spread the word, spread the love.
We’re really jazzed about our new relationship with Indie Press Revolution (IPR). Not only will it give us a second venue in addition to DriveThruRPG/RPGNow through which to market the PDF of Cipher, but IPR also will be handling the hardcopy distribution of the dead-tree books once they become available.
(Side note: While you will still be able to get each of the three alternate covers of Cipher in PDF, only the Apocalypse cover will be mass distributed as a book. If you want Balance or Dystopia on your shelf, you will be able to get either one direct from us. Not only does this make the paperwork and tracking easier on our distributor, but it makes the alternate covers a little cooler as there’ll be less of them.)
Speaking of hardcopies….
It looks like we should be able to start taking orders through our own store around Halloween, and expect the books to “go live” at IPR sometime in November.
Work continues on Echoes, and with every passing day, I get more and more excited about this game. It has some elements that I can’t describe as anything other than “insanely neat”. Carolyn’s lifetime devotion to the horror genre is adding some serious polish to Echoes. I can’t wait to get to playtesting stages with this one.
That’s all for now. Check out the podcast, go poke around IPR’s site a bit, and feel free to wrangle friends and family into line to grab a copy of the book in a few weeks.
Peace out,
Paul E. Holmes
